Easter Pictures

So I realize that this post is two weeks late, but that's just the way it goes sometimes.  Here are some photos from Easter.  I had planned to put Elise in this cute little dress that her buddy Anthony got her for her birthday but made a rookie Easter mistake and didn't look for her tights until right before we needed to leave.  Said tights were no where to be found and the outfit had to be changed, which is actually a good thing come to find out because the dress is sleeveless and still a bit too big so it would have been falling off.

The dress she ended up wearing was a little big as well but looked cute despite me having to roll the sleeves up.  And she wore one of her super warm and adorable pairs of knit socks made for her by Kit's Aunt Rae.

I promise this wasn't staged.  One of her favorite books is her little Bible story book from one of the pastors and his wife at the church Kit grew up going to.  She loves to point at the people and animals and say, "Dat," (that) - a request for you to tell her who the person/animal is.  In this case, she apparently learned a lot in the nursery at church and was able to identify the reason why she was so dressed up - Jesus!

It was a teething day so she was drooling a lot.

"Dat!"

Remembering that she had a headband on.

Removing said headband.

Daddy walked into the room at this point and she beamed him a big smile.

I love putting cute headbands on her.

Isn't she just the most adorable little girl?

And back to her very serious Bible reading.

Evelyn's Blankets

Here are the baby blankets I made for Evie a few weeks ago.  I've loved having four matching blankets for Elise to cuddle with and chew on in bed.  It's so nice to be able to rotate them out for washing and drying without having to rush to get them done before the next nap or bedtime, especially since she likes to get them nice and slobbery.  So I decided that it was a good idea to actually make Evelyn's before she is born since I'm getting the luxury of at least a few extra weeks of pregnancy with her.

My sewing skills are gradually getting better and better, and this time I decided it would be a good idea to watching a few tutorials online for how to sew on binding.  Not sure why I never thought of that before, but it was a huge help!  Kit has also said that he'll get me some sewing classes for my birthday so that I can get official instruction on how to sew because it's basically the only hobby that I've found that I enjoy enough to stick with.  (It helps that sewing is so practical and allows me to make things for the house that I can't find in the stores in the style or price that I want.

For the actual sewing of one of the blankets, Elise sat on my lap and watching as I fed the blanket through my sewing machine.  She thought it was just great.  That blanket doesn't have as tight of an edge on the binding, but it'll be a fun memory to explain to Evelyn that Elise helped with that one.  And the moment I was done sewing it, Elise grabbed it and cuddled with it for a minute.  It's going to be so fun to have two little girls!!

Elise's Big Girl Room

Today marked the official start of making noticeable changes to our old "library" that will be Elise's big girl room so that Evelyn can have the "nursery."  We've been working for the past few weeks on clearing out extra furniture, books and random items that have been stored in there.  And today Kit painted the room.  The verdict?

We love it!!  Tomorrow Kit will be sanding and painting the dresser we bought for her on Craigslist while I begin my accent painting project on the wall where her bed will be.  And on Sunday we'll be picking up her new big girl twin mattress, which we plan to keep on the floor until she's big enough that she can crawl in and out of a mattress in a frame.  Then there will be many more smaller projects to accomplish.

For now, here are photos of the newly painted room.

Happy Birthday, Kit!!

Today we celebrated Kit's birthday.  I could not ask for a more loving, wonderful, caring and supportive husband.  He had planned to get his MBA (while working full time) before having kids.  And now he's managing to balance work, school, marriage, one child and another on the way without even taking a break from school.  By the time he graduates, we'll have two kids rather than simply being ready to start trying to have our first!

Elise absolutely adores her daddy.  It doesn't matter how her day has gone, the moment he walks in the door from work her whole demeanor changes.  She smiles smiles that are reserved for him alone.  When weekends end and Monday morning comes around, she inevitably looks around when it's just me coming in to get her out of bed and says, "dada" or "daddy," as she searches for him.  And when he teaches her things, she copies them even if she's ignored mommy trying to teach her the same lessons for weeks.  He's already started reading books on raising daughters, and I'm so happy for our girls to have such a loving, humble and involved dad.

I also don't think I've ever even mentioned this on the blog, but since last July Kit has been biking over 20 miles a day commuting to work.  He gets up long before the sun and begins riding every morning while I stay in bed.  It's amazing.  And to top it all off, he's getting ready to ride his first century ride (100 miles!!) called 100 Miles of Nowhere that will involve him riding around our block 250 times in one day.

I love my husband dearly and am so thrilled to be beginning yet another year of his life with him.  And in honor of his birthday, here are some cute pictures of his biggest fan.

Her first time crawling in grass as she tried to chase a neighbor cat that was in our yard.

Most of our pictures of her look like this lately since she really likes to touch the camera and to see the pictures we've taken of her.

Enjoying every last bite.

Who knows what she was trying to accomplish in this picture, but it's cute!

Enjoying reading "her" magazine and sorting through the leftover envelopes and papers after we paid the bills.

My dearest hubby, I love you!  And given the smiles, giggles and kisses that Elise was giving you tonight, I'd venture to say she loves you too!
