Evelyn's Blankets

Here are the baby blankets I made for Evie a few weeks ago.  I've loved having four matching blankets for Elise to cuddle with and chew on in bed.  It's so nice to be able to rotate them out for washing and drying without having to rush to get them done before the next nap or bedtime, especially since she likes to get them nice and slobbery.  So I decided that it was a good idea to actually make Evelyn's before she is born since I'm getting the luxury of at least a few extra weeks of pregnancy with her.

My sewing skills are gradually getting better and better, and this time I decided it would be a good idea to watching a few tutorials online for how to sew on binding.  Not sure why I never thought of that before, but it was a huge help!  Kit has also said that he'll get me some sewing classes for my birthday so that I can get official instruction on how to sew because it's basically the only hobby that I've found that I enjoy enough to stick with.  (It helps that sewing is so practical and allows me to make things for the house that I can't find in the stores in the style or price that I want.

For the actual sewing of one of the blankets, Elise sat on my lap and watching as I fed the blanket through my sewing machine.  She thought it was just great.  That blanket doesn't have as tight of an edge on the binding, but it'll be a fun memory to explain to Evelyn that Elise helped with that one.  And the moment I was done sewing it, Elise grabbed it and cuddled with it for a minute.  It's going to be so fun to have two little girls!!

Those are so pretty. You are a very crafty mama!
PS- I didn't know you are supposed to wash things when they get slobbery ;)
