Happy Eight Week Birthday, Elise!

Elise officially turned eight weeks old last night. Even though we just returned from seeing our little girl who seems gigantic compared to the little 2 pounds, 11 ounce baby who joined our family eight weeks ago, I have a hard time believing I have a two month old. Yes, a two month old - doesn't seem real.

We have been officially baptized into the "kids cost a lot" sector of parenting. Since Elise will be coming home in a matter of days, today we went to both Babies'R'Us and Target to purchase some of the items we felt were necessary for bringing her home that we hadn't yet bought or been given. Even after I spent time online determining which store was cheaper and even with our 10% off the entire purchase from Target and our 15% off one item coupon at Babies'R'Us, we spent more than we've spent on either one of ourselves in a long time. Luckily, I did remember to use the gift cards we've received (have a habit of going to a store to use a gift card and then paying for the purchase without the gift card, only to remember I had a gift card 10 minutes after driving away from the store) and we also had some gifted cash from my shower. All in all, we didn't do too bad. But babies are expensive.

Now I just need to get everything organized and put away in her room. Then you will all get to see nursery pictures!! I finished my projector project on Friday so now the room is almost ready. Yippee!

Oh, and today she took her full afternoon bottle feeding from me again. I think I'm getting the hang of what works for the two of us when it comes to bottle feeding, which is good because I was starting to get a little concerned that she wasn't taking very many full feedings from us and was only doing well for the nurses. She must be wanting to come home just as much as we want her to so she's pulling out her best behavior for mommy. :)

Even though it's expensive wasn't it nice going out shopping for her knowing that you would have your sweet baby girl home in a matter of days. I bet there was nothing you'd rather have been spending money on than things to prepare to bring her home :)

The little buggers ARE expensive. Who'd think someone so small would need so much stuff!

And WTG on 5 lbs 7 oz!! Double her birth weight in 2 months!! I know she seems so big now but soon enough you will doubt she was ever that small. I have pics of my 3rd coming home at 5 lbs & her sister's dolls they'd just gotten for Christmas were by her carrier. The doll's heads were bigger than hers even! But now I see her at 16 months & almost 19 lbs & it doesn't seem possible she was really *that* tiny.

So, though you just spent major bucks on baby stuff, I suggest one more thing. A baby doll that a year from now you'll see her play with and think - no way were they ever the same size.

(BTW I tried the headbands that I made for you on our baby doll to make sure I had the right size!! LOL!)

Dear Elise,

Happy, Happy Birthday!!!

We can't wait to see how your Mommy has decorated your nursery. I suspect there is going to be a lot of pink involved. The best thing of all will be to see pictures of the nursery- with YOU in it!

Love,
Susan, Paul, and Anthony

Yeah! Can't wait to see her nursery! Can't wait to see Elise in her nursery. Still patiently waiting on my June baby as I follow Elise in her growth and development.
