Daddy's First Hold

This post comes with a short back story. When Kit and I first started dating nearly 5 years ago, he told me that he had never held a baby. This wasn't because he had any sort of aversion to have kids - in fact, he really wanted to be a daddy at some point - he just hadn't really ever been around small babies much and never felt the need to hold one.

Right then and there I said I thought he should wait to have his own first child be the first baby he ever held. If he made it 25 years without ever holding a baby, there was no need to not save that special experience. His sister had her first baby almost two years ago, and Kit waited to hold her until she was a few months old.

That said, last night was one of the most beautiful moments in the history of our relationship. Although Kit was super apprehensive (can you say, "deer in headlights?"), we convinced him (quite easily) to hold his beautiful baby girl. Here's the special moment captured on video and in pictures.

Despite Elise only weighing 2 pounds, 5.6 ounces, Kit's arm cramped when they put her back in the crib and was hurting quite badly. Typical first baby holding experience, especially for first time dad's...adorable.
