Another Update

Kit and I just got back from seeing Ellie while they cleaned her nostrils and mouth (without the CPAP in). This was my first time seeing her precious face, and she is just adorable!!! She was flailing her little arms and legs while they did the suction on her nostrils, and the nurse had to hold them down. That reminds me that some of the medical folks (not exactly sure which ones) had to tape her little arms down while the doctor intubating her right after she was born because she was trying to fight him off. She's clearly her daddy's girl. :)

I was also able to change her diaper for the first time this afternoon. While I was timid and had the nurse's help quite a bit, I did get to do about half of the process. She's so light that it's hard to slide the diaper under her bum without lifting her too much. (She can't be lifted by her legs like you would a larger baby because it's not good for her little head.)

Speaking of her little bum...I completely forgot to mention in my last post that Ellie had not one but two bowel movements yesterday. (Didn't take us long to mention poo on the blog.) The first one was a surprise because the doctor said that often premature babies don't have BMs on their own for a while and require occasional suppositories. She still may need a suppository from time to time, but what a gal to have another one last night! (For anyone who's wondering, she's currently two BMs ahead of her mom...hehe.)

Yay for Ellie's poops! Woohoo! She's already got Ethan beat for this week. lol.

And speaking of iron - you might ask your doctor if it's possible for you to have Floridix - it's a liquid iron supplement that is supposed to be gentler than the typical iron pills. I lost a lot of blood with Ethan and had to take iron... and let me just say that it to me a LONG while before everything got back to normal. lol.

I LOVE YOU!!!
